Privacy Policy

DeckMate is a deck-quoting tool and a marketplace connecting homeowners with local carpenters and suppliers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

Account details — your name, email, phone number and role (homeowner, carpenter or supplier) when you create an account.
Quotes and jobs — deck plans, measurements, pricing, business details and the job posts or quotes you create or receive.
Location — the suburb or address you enter for a job or site (used to match nearby carpenters). We do not track your device location.
Photos you choose to upload (e.g. site or job photos).
Usage and device data — basic technical information (browser, general region, error logs) to keep the service working and secure.

2. How we use it

To run your account, save your quotes, and provide the marketplace (showing homeowners’ jobs to carpenters and returning quotes to homeowners).
To notify you — for example, emailing a homeowner when a carpenter sends a quote.
To process paid subscriptions and support requests.
To improve, secure and troubleshoot the service.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers to run DeckMate, and share only what’s needed:

Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication and database hosting.
Stripe — payment processing for paid plans (we never see your full card details).
Email delivery providers — to send account and notification emails.
Other users of the marketplace — when you post a job, participating carpenters can see the job details you provide; when a carpenter quotes, the homeowner sees the carpenter’s business name, rating and quote.

4. Your choices and rights

Access and correction — you can view and edit your details in the app, or email us.
Delete your account — you can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app (More/settings → Delete account), or by emailing us.
Marketing — you can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.

5. Storage and security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure and protected with access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and keep it only as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal obligations.

6. Children

DeckMate is intended for adults arranging building work. It is not directed at people under 16.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date.

9. Do not sell or share my information

DeckMate does not sell personal information, and does not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The only sharing is what the service needs to work (section 3). If you would still like to record a "do not sell or share" request, or to have your data deleted, email info@deckmate.com.au with the subject "Do not sell or share my information" and we will confirm within 30 days. You can also delete your account from inside the app at any time.
