Terms of Service
1. What DeckMate is
DeckMate is (a) a tool for pricing and presenting deck quotes, and (b) a marketplace that connects homeowners with local carpenters and material suppliers. DeckMate helps people find each other and exchange quotes — we are not a party to any building contract made between a homeowner and a carpenter, and we don’t supply building work ourselves.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older and provide accurate details.
- Keep your password secure; you’re responsible for activity on your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the app.
3. Using the marketplace
- Homeowners can post deck jobs and receive quotes for free. You choose which (if any) carpenter to engage — do your own checks (licensing, insurance, references) before hiring.
- Carpenters are responsible for their own quotes, licensing, insurance, workmanship and compliance with all laws and building codes. A quote sent through DeckMate is an offer between you and the homeowner.
- Be honest and lawful. Don’t post misleading, offensive, infringing or spam content, and don’t misuse other users’ information.
- Ratings and reviews must reflect genuine experiences.
4. Plans and payments
Quoting and the marketplace are free for homeowners. Carpenters may subscribe to a paid plan; paid plans are billed via Stripe and start after any free trial stated at sign-up. You can cancel anytime; fees already charged are non-refundable except where required by law. Prices may change with notice.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the plans, quotes, photos and text you create. You grant us a licence to host and display that content as needed to run the service (for example, showing your job to carpenters, or your quote to a homeowner).
6. Availability and disclaimers
We work to keep DeckMate reliable but provide it “as is”, without guarantees of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Pricing estimates are a guide only — final costs depend on the carpenter, site conditions and materials. You’re responsible for checking figures before relying on them.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent permitted by law, DeckMate is not liable for the acts, quality of work, or agreements of any user, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability can’t be excluded, it’s limited to re-supplying the service or the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months.
8. Ending access
You can stop using DeckMate anytime. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or misuse the service.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the courts of that state.
